A Word From Rachel Silberstein, Esq.-
Matrimonial & Family Law Attorney

____________________________________________________________________________________

I have been exclusively practicing Matrimonial and Family Law since I graduated Pace University School of Law, cum laude, in 2005 and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2006. While in law school, I knew that I wanted to practice Matrimonial and/or Family Law, and enrolled myself in several Family Court internships including New York Legal Assistance Group's Domestic Violence Clinical Program and Yonkers Family Court Legal Program. I was a member of the Pace Law Review and wrote an article on applying Battered Woman's Syndrome to victims of domestic violence in same-sex relationships. I graduated law school in the top fifteen percent of my class, but rather than take a job at a big new York City Law firm, as most law students at the top of their class go on to do, I sought a position at a Matrimonial or Family Law firm so I could continue to help people through these stressful times in their lives.

Shortly after graduating law school I took a position at a prominent Long Island Matrimonial and Family Law firm where I helped hundreds of people like you resolve their divorces, custody battles, support cases and other family law issues. I was in Court almost daily and practiced in all five boroughs of New York City, Long Island and Westchester. I became Senior Associate of the Firm and remained there until late 2010 when I left to start a family.

I started my own firm so I could focus my attention on my clients and their needs. My role as your attorney is not only to represent you and advocate for you, but to help ease your stress during this time. I will personally guide you through this process step by step, and will take as much time as necessary to answer any questions you have and make you feel comfortable with the steps that are being taken. I will use my experience, knowledge and creativity to obtain the best outcome for you that I can, but it is also my responsibility to be honest with you if a certain result is unrealistic. In most cases, it is better for all parties involved if a resolution can be negotiated rather than it being left in the hands of a Judge that does not know you, your spouse or your children. I am an experienced, skilled and creative negotiator and have resolved several cases that were deemed "unsettleable", allowing the parties to move on with their lives, and saving them thousands in attorney and expert fees. However, I am also an aggressive litigator and will bring your matter to trial if necessary and in your best interests. I am dedicated to obtaining the best possible outcome I can for you, while making the process as painless as possible. This is not only the way I earn a living, it has been my passion for many many years.
